On Top of the Rock

“All the strangeness and the glory and the power of life and of the City was below” (Thomas Wolfe on the Manhattan Sky Line).

The activity for today was to experience the view of Manhattan from the top of the Rockefeller Center. The advantage of this view-point is that, as well as being high enough to experience a spectacular view of the whole of Manhattan, we were able to see the empire state building from an equivalent height providing a rare opportunity to study this masterpiece of Art Deco architecture.
