Edward Dimsdale: How To Read A Photograph – A Short Guide to Photographic Theory

Or How To Win Friends and Influence People with Images

Edward Dimsdale is a photographer, writer, and senior lecturer in contextual studies at the Cambridge School of Art. A long-term collaboration with experimental theatre company Bodies In Flight resulted in Model Love, a series of performances and installations exploring inter-relations between photography and theatrical performance. His other research interests include critical histories of the medium, the photo book, and contemporary resonances for the technique of photogravure.

Needless to say, this talk inspired students to think about the power of photography – a vital skill-set in today’s society!
