All of our students took a break from their busy schedules yesterday afternoon and attended a talk given by Dr. Robert Klapper, Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and well-known ESPN radio broadcaster. He described his journey from a humble upbringing in Queens, New York, to his present position as a surgeon and radio show host. His path included naysayers and doubters, as well as an unexpected detour into the study of art history. His central message was one of perseverance and creativity, encouraging the students to follow their passions, to surround themselves with driven and engaged people, and to never take no for an answer. The students had a great time getting their questions answered and enjoyed Dr. Klapper’s insight very much.
