Sports Medicine Class Visits USC Diabetes Clinic

Yesterday morning, our Sports Medicine course took a field trip to the USC Diabetes Clinic, which strives to offer accessible care to the diabetic community, raise funds for treatment expansion, and to conduct research on public health policy techniques and the efficacy of various diabetes treatment programs. The clinic visit was great preparation for the students, who spent this morning of class learning how to conduct blood sugar tests. The pair of lessons has given many of them a better understanding of the far-reaching consequences of diabetes in the lives of patients as well as practical experience in the medical techniques used to track patients’ health.
