Hello everyone! After yesterday’s hectic schedule, the weekend has started with a calmer atmosphere, but everyone is still keeping pretty busy. The students began the day in their major classes, but after this had plenty of free time to enjoy the warm weather and relax!
This weekend is Cambridge’s “Big Weekend”, an arts and culture event organised by the city to celebrate the diverse and talented community who live and work here. Because of this, the students today had the opportunity to attend an open air concert in Parker’s Piece, and a summer fete in Little St Mary’s Church.
Today was also the day of the women’s finals at Wimbledon, which were screened in Peterhouse for the students to watch. After yesterday’s sport-filled timetable, some people were feeling grateful to spend some time sitting back and watching others play instead! A crafts session was also organised by our activities directors, where students made origami, hama beads. and friendship bracelets.
For those who were still in need of more relaxation time, a screening of “Sherlock Holmes” took place in the theatre, but by the evening, energy levels began to pick up again, as some students prepared for the weekly dance. This week, the theme was tropical, which some students embraced, bringing out their best costumes and Hawaiian shirts. Several students took on DJ-ing responsibilities for the night, and their music selections appeared to go down well, with the party picking up very quickly!
