Art History at the Fitzwilliam Gallery

Yesterday the Art History Minor Class visited the Fitzwilliam Museum, one of the finest small museums in Europe, right here on our doorstep in Cambridge! They learned about the history of the museum and its collections, and explored some of the paintings in depth.

Here the class poses with the portrait of Richard Fitzwilliam, 7th Viscount Fitzwilliam, the founder of the museum, which is celebrating its 200th Anniversary this year.

They each chose a painting that particularly appealed to them, and wrote short pieces about them – appearing on the blog soon: watch this space!
