Art History in London

In London, the Art History major took the opportunity to visit the Wallace Collection, a lesser-known museum containing objects formerly owned by the 4th Marquess of Hertford, housed in one of his former London properties. The combination of furniture, paintings, curiosities and sumptuous decor give an impression of how these works would have been admired and displayed by their former owners.

Once inside, the students found Jan Steen’s Celebrating the Birth – a painting they had encountered in digital form on the first day of the course. What a great opportunity!
