I don’t mean to be repetitive, but, wow, our weather has been fabulous! Sunshine and warmth… ah, summer has officially arrived, and it looks like it is here to stay for a while!
Classes were ripping it up this morning – off venturing around town to enrich the regular classroom lessons. Philosophy headed to Christ Church College to explore the grounds. Applied Science went to the Botanical Gardens to investigate the various uses of plants in science. Psychology examined conditioned responses, similar to Pavlov’s Dogs and their response to salivate to the sound of a bell. The volunteer was gently sprinkled with water every time the word can was said, in hopes of eliciting a flinch reaction. As the experiment continued, the flinch response happened with out the water, but only the hearing of the word “can”.
Tuesdays are assembly days, Papa P gave the students their props for being tidy in their rooms, keeping the laundry room tidy and doing their laundry, some for the first time! We had our program photo – all 150 of the students and the 30 staff members!
The afternoon was filled with berry picking, college tours, and the International Education Forum; where students visited stalls from various universities in the UK, perhaps getting information from a school they may very well attend in the future!
This evening we are being graced with musical might from the Oxford Pro Musica Ensemble – lovely voices are currently filling the air!
